Pre-School Story Time each Thursday at 10:00 a.m. Chips and a Chapter on each Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. for grades 3-5 (Call for book title of the week) Lunching with Books is held every third Tuesday of the month at 12 (noon). Call for more information. The City of Amory Regional Museum is dedicated to preserve, curate and archive historical significant regional history, genealogical interest, and provide innovative, educational programming that celebrates the culture and community of Amory, Mississippi and the surrounding area. In 1916, philanthropist E.D. Gilmore constructed the Gilmore Sanitarium , a priceless gift to the people of Amory and Monroe County. The Sanitarium served as a nursing home from 1961 until 1965. The Sanitarium stood vacant until 1974, when in August of that year the Amory Bicentennial Committee, as part of its “Project ’76”, decided a city museum was in order. On...
