About the event

The World’s Largest Hamburger Parade is the signature event of Seymour’s annual Burger Fest, a community celebration that honors the town’s claim as the birthplace of the hamburger. The festival began in 1989 and celebrates the legacy of Charles 'Hamburger Charlie' Nagreen, who is credited locally with creating the hamburger sandwich in 1885. Held each year in downtown Seymour, the parade features marching bands, community organizations, classic vehicles, local businesses, civic groups, and themed floats. It serves as the centerpiece of Burger Fest and attracts thousands of visitors from Wisconsin and beyond. The event combines small-town tradition with the town’s unique hamburger heritage, creating one of the state's most distinctive food-themed celebrations. The parade is part of a larger festival that includes a Bun Run, children's activities, hot-air balloons, a burger-eating contest, a giant ketchup slide, live entertainment, and the serving of oversized hamburgers. Today, the World’s Largest Hamburger Parade remains a symbol of Seymour’s identity as the “Home of the Hamburger,” celebrating local history, community pride, and Wisconsin’s food culture while drawing visitors from around the world.
