The Certified Farmers Market program was created in 1977 and enables California Agricultural Producers to directly market their agricultural products to consumers. In Orange County, Certified Farmers Markets provide local consumers a wide variety of fresh fruits, vegetables, nuts, honey, eggs, plants and cut flowers. Orange County certified producers range from backyard growers to large scale farmers. We certify growers of fruits, vegetables, nuts, honey, eggs, nursery stock, and cut flowers. During a certification inspection, an agricultural inspector visits the farmer’s growing grounds, taking note of what is being grown and its condition. With the information collected, our office issues Certified Producer’s Certificates detailing what commodities the inspector has seen growing and at what quantity, the approximate expected yield, and the expected harvest season.
