This is the official website of the Village of Magdalena. Renowned as the “Trails End,” the Village of Magdalena owes its moniker to the railroad spur line established in 1884 by the New Mexico Railroad, a subsidiary of the Atchison, Topeka, and Santa Fe. This line was vital in transporting cattle, sheep wool, timber, and ore from Socorro to the village. The historic “Magdalena Trail” witnessed the annual migration of thousands of cattle and sheep into town until 1971, leaving an enduring mark on the community's cultural history. As the rich heritage of Magdalena is honored, the community also embraces progress and innovation.
