Founded in 1993, The Carmel Art Festival has become one of the most prestigious plein-air events attracting art collectors and top artists from around the world. In 2026, we expanded the festival with demonstrations and workshops in addition to our usual painting competition, art sales, live music, and a gala with fine food and wine. In 2027, we are extending the painting days of our juried artists by two days, starting on the day after Mother’s Day through the festival weekend. The Carmel Art Festival is held in Devendorf Park with closure of adjacent Mission Street during certain points for shorter competitions such as the Quick Draw On The Avenue on Saturday. In 2026, we gave aspiring plein air artists an opportunity to participate in formal workshops given by several of our juried artists before the festival even started, and fun demonstrations during the event itself.
