Sea turtles return to our beaches every year to nest. Beach Junki helps protect them through clean beaches, education, community outreach, and simple actions everyone can take. Only 1 in 1,000 hatchlings survive to adulthood. Female sea turtles return to the same beach where they were born to lay their eggs. Hatchlings find the ocean by following the natural light reflecting off the water. Sea turtles can hold their breath for hours depending on their activity level and species. All sea turtle species found in Florida are threatened or endangered.
